About Us — Alice Jian Ping Morris

I was born in Guangzhou in 1961. My father was an economist and my mother a high school physics teacher.

I was born premature and had many health issues including throat, lung, liver, and heart problems. I was in and out of hospitals throughout my childhood and was put on a lot of western drugs.

I had reached the level of acceptable by western medical standards but I still could not do a lot of things all the other children could do.

In childhood hiking trips I was not able to go up the hills but had to look after the luggage at the bottom as I had little energy and was short and thin.

My grandparents on my mother's side were both well known Chinese doctors but my grandfather died young. My grandmother treated me and taught me Chinese herbal treatment which made me a lot better

When I was around 10 I started to learn Chinese medicine from my grandmother and I always was reading TCM and Qigong books so I could make myself better. I really was forced too due to my poor health.

At an early age I could feel the different influences on my body from trying different medicines and also food. I remember complaining to my parents that after eating Bok Choi I would get very tired and would have to go to the toilet all the time. My parents were both believers in western medicine and did not believe in Chinese medicine as first treatment options. The western doctors said there is nothing wrong for me to eat Bok Choi but I knew inside me it had a negative effect and my grandmother explained to me why I had this reaction to it.

My parents were both highly educated logical people who both came from the countryside and got university degrees, which at that time in China only 1 in 50,000 people achieved this so they were regarded as very successful and were highly respected .My grandmother was from the countryside and not well educated but everything she explained made sense to me and she made herbal formulas for me which made me a lot better.

In the Chinese culture the children generally listen to their parents and try to follow their wishes, as this is respectful and generally in the families best interest. The Chinese family is usually an extended family including grandparent's aunts and uncles which all participate as a family group.

The western culture is more of a nuclear family where all members are more individual on the direction they wish to go.

As a good daughter I wanted to follow my parents wishes that wanted to use western medicine, which was "logical and scientific". My grandmothers teaching and herbal formulas made sense to me but she was not well educated so I was conflicted in whom to believe and felt compelled to follow my parent's wishes.

From that early age a seed was laid within me and I had a very strong desire to find the best way of healing, to discover the truth and let people understand.

I read many classic books including the The Yellow Emperors Canon of Internal Medicine to help me understand myself and from this learning and practising on myself I was getting a lot better.

My young mind found that the Chinese medicine method way was the right way to treat me.

This understanding was of great excitement to me and I felt I would have to do Chinese medicine all my life to find the true way of health.

At the age of around 15 I felt my heath had plat toed and I needed something else to get me to the next level.

I then started to learn Pan Qi Qigong in Guangzhou. I did it every morning and my body was getting much stronger. Due to such an improvement in my health I decided to learn as much about Qigong as possible. Next I learnt Quolin Qigong to relax the body followed by Yan Xin Qigong including attending a huge seminar in Guangzhou when it was in its peak time in the 1980s. I then learnt Da Yan Gong and Zhong Hua Gong plus Feng shui and Chinese Astrology. Through this learning my health improved dramatically and my understanding of the ancient traditional culture became a major goal and focus in my life.

My parents wanted me to be secure in my life in China and their expectations like most Chinese parents were for their children to get a good education and get a high position job so I studied accountancy for 5 years and worked for a big wholesale electrical appliance company as a senior accountant, a job position in which I was the envy of many people at the time.

Even though this was a very successful job and I was considered a success I was not happy in doing it.

In 1990 at the age of 29, I decided to move to New Zealand to follow my dream of understanding true health.

This was the perfect opportunity to start doing Chinese medicine again.

I worked in Auckland for 4 years Doing herbs and acupressure.

In 1995 I set up the Wellington Health Massage Clinic followed by the Alice Qigong and Acupressure school.

I also returned to China frequently from 1996 studying in Xanxi ,Fujian, Anhui, Tai Yuan in Qigong, Fung shui, Chinese Astrology and medicine.

This year (2007) I have just completed an advanced two-month course in Beijing on food healing formulas with Professor Liu who has over 270 branches in China and is one of the leading authorities of the ancient Chinese food healing techniques which is having outstanding results in mainland China.

Through this work I found the New Zealand climate and culture was quite different from China so I had to adjust The TCM treatment according to New Zealand conditions and found that TCM including Herbs, Acupressure, Acupuncture is not enough.

I have found peoples health is not just what the traditional healing methods of acupuncture, acupressure and herbs is but far more including their beliefs, what food they eat, their working state, family state, living environment (Feng Shui), general health constitution, lifestyle and their time and date of birth (Chinese Astrology).

Health is a big area and many factors affect our well being that is why I have set up The Way of Nature Ltd and created Mark and myself ACM Practitioners, a much deeper way of addressing your health.

The ACM Practitioner will start with your health needs based on the Ancient Chinese traditional medicine TCM culture, exploring all aspects of your life to find the major points to focus on and adjust with you so as to develop people to fulfil their lives.

The ACM Practitioners Goal

Our goal is to preserve your health, your life, to decrease your chance of going in the wrong direction with your health and putting you on the right track to develop your life.

The Yellow Emperors Canon of Internal Medicine says:
"A top healer will heal the illness before it forms", smart people will heal themselves earlier.

Starting to heal yourself when illness comes is like making weapons when your enemy is attacking you or starting to dig a well when you get thirsty.

The ancient Chinese healers used many angles and methods to understand people and their needs, as a ACM Practitioner we wish to use a similar approach to healing.

I hope you get some value from our website and we can help you with your health needs.
